Hello dear friends. I have so many thoughts on my mind and so many feelings from this past week on my heart tonight. Prayerfully, I will be able to express them clearly to you. This past week, I have had the honor of sitting with so many who are hurting and grieving. I have watched God reach down to those He loves and has created and bring them love, hope, and peace into their deepest pain points. So many are in deep pain. Some of you are in deep pain in this very moment that you are reading this. It is my prayer that you will know that The God of all creation loves you and is with you. Even though you may feel alone, He is there with you. He loves you. He longs for you to come to Him. It is my prayer that you will know that you are on His mind and that you will come to Him just as you are. He is waiting for you just like the father who came running to his prodigal son when he finally returned home. God longs for you to come to Him.
Many of you know our story, but I always try to briefly recap it for our new readers. In August 2011, my husband had a freak work accident where he was instantly paralyzed from the chest down. He was in trauma ICU for four days where they tried to stabilize him, and he tragically died in pre-op on August 14th. At that time, our children were ages 16, 14, and 11. In June 2013, my only son who was 18 was instantly killed in a car accident. My two incredible daughters and I have walked through much pain and grief. We continue to love and miss our guys. God has done much healing in our hearts and minds. My girls are my two miracles, and I am absolutely amazed at how God has brought healing and growth into their lives each year. We still have effects of the trauma that we endured that we each must battle through, but we are each trying to press on .
Many people who are battling grief and pain are feeling lost and are struggling with unanswered questions. You may currently be one of these people. You may wonder what your purpose is. Your pain may make you feel like it is so heavy that you can hardly breathe. You may be sitting in the midst of so many unanswered questions. You may feel lost. You may wonder who truly cares about you. You may feel so alone. So many people who are walking through grief and loss battle these thoughts and feelings.
I want you to know that God can handle your truest feelings, your deepest pain, and all of the thoughts and questions that run through your mind.
I have the blessing of facilitating Bible studies at our church with a group of ladies that I just adore. As we are journeying through God’s word together, then each Tuesday night, we are surrounded in the amazing love that God has for us and that we have for one another. Recently, in a Bible Study by Kristi McLelland called “Jesus and Women” that we just journeyed through, Kristi was telling of the woman who came to the dinner at Simon the Pharisee’s home and anointed Jesus with perfume and her tears. Kristi tells in her study how this woman lost it on Jesus. Through her tears, she was bringing all of who she was and all that she was struggling with right to His feet. And what do we see? We see Jesus loving her in the midst of her deepest pain. Do you know that? Do you know that you can bring your deepest pain to Jesus? As Kristi asked us in our study, “Do we give ourselves permission to just lose it on Jesus? Do we realize that our tears matter and that our tears that we have cried before matter to Jesus?” (If you have the opportunity to go through this Bible Study, then I highly recommend it. I learned so much. It was amazing.)
Often when we are in our deepest pain and sitting in our unanswered questions, then our human nature wants to run from God. When we get to know God, then we are able to see that He is The Good Shepherd that leaves His 99 sheep to find the lost one. We are also able to see that He is The Running Father who embraces His prodigal son and welcomes him home. We need to learn these things about God. We need to realize that when we are in our deepest hurt and pain, and we feel like running from God that we should actually do the opposite and run to Him. I want to challenge each of us to do this. When we are in our deepest pain, then let’s bring it to Him. He is our comforter.
“For He has not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from him; But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.” Psalm 22:24
I pray that you come to know this. He will hear you. He will help you. He loves you more than you can imagine. Nothing that you have done nor nothing that has happened in your life is able to separate you from His love.
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
This past week, I have been so blessed by the new song by Matthew West, “Me on Your Mind.” I heard it for the first time on the radio and then just a little while later that very day, a dear friend sent me the link. The words blessed my heart so much, and I have included the words and the link so that you may listen to the song at the end of this blog. I hope that as you read these words and listen to Matthew sing it that you will realize it’s truth.
“Who am I that the King of the world would give one single thought about my broken heart? Who am I that the God of all grace wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”? Matthew West
I pray that you will realize that person is you. The King of the world cares about your broken heart. The God of all grace wipes the tears from your face and invites you to come to Him, just as you are.
“Just knowing You’re mindful of me, Just knowing You call me Your child, It’s flooding my soul with unspeakable hope.
Thank You, Lord, that it’s me on Your mind.” Matthew West
Please know that I am praying for you to know the truth of these words. He is mindful of you. I pray that your soul is flooded with unspeakable hope, and that you will know that you are on His mind.
For the girls and I, even though we will always miss and love our guys, and although we all have continuing areas to grow in, of this we are most certain: God has been with us. God walks with us. God loves us in our deepest pain. Our hope is in Him. He has blessed us with peace and joy in the midst of heart-wrenching pain. We pray that our lives are a testimony of His healing and of His love. One of the points in sharing our continuing story is that we know that if He has done these things for us and in us, then He can most definitely do His amazing healing and work in each of your hearts and minds as well. We send you all our love and prayers. May you be blessed today with the truth of this song below- you are on His mind.
You are loved. You are not alone.

“Me on Your Mind”
Song by Matthew West
Lyrics:
“I’ve read the words in red
How You leave the 99
To find the one missing
Feels like that was written
With me on Your mind
To find the one missing
Feels like that was written
With me on Your mind
And the prodigal son who ran, leaving his home behind
The part where the father came running to meet him
Did You say that with me on Your mind?
The part where the father came running to meet him
Did You say that with me on Your mind?
Who am I that the King of the world
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Just knowing You’re mindful of me
Just knowing You call me Your child
It’s flooding my soul with unspeakable hope
Thank You, Lord, that it’s me on Your mind
Just knowing You call me Your child
It’s flooding my soul with unspeakable hope
Thank You, Lord, that it’s me on Your mind
Who am I that the King of the world
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
There was me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Oh, oh (Hallelujah)
Thank You, Jesus (Hallelujah)
Lord, it was me on Your mind
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
Who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
There was me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Oh, oh (Hallelujah)
Thank You, Jesus (Hallelujah)
Lord, it was me on Your mind
I’ve read the words in red of a heavenly home on high
You’re preparing a place where the sorrow’s erased
And when I stand before You, I’ll find
All along, it was me on Your mind
You’re preparing a place where the sorrow’s erased
And when I stand before You, I’ll find
All along, it was me on Your mind
Who am I that the King of the world
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
And who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
With me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Would give one single thought about my broken heart?
And who am I that the God of all grace
Wipes the tears from my face and says, “Come as you are”?
You paid the price, You took the cross
You gave Your life and You did it all with me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
With me on Your mind (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Woah (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
It was me on Your mind
It was me on Your mind
