I love the title of this song by Tauren Wells. Each time since the first time that I heard this song, my heart has just filled with hope as I listened to the beautiful music and to the message of this song. It is full of hope. Hope that is so desperately needed by us all. 2020 brought a lot of pain to a lot of people in our world. We have many that have lost loved ones as we battled through this world wide pandemic. We have people in our lives or maybe it is you who are experiencing a lot of pain currently and are so in need of hope.
Many of you know the story of the pain and loss that the girls and I have suffered. My husband of eighteen years died in a freak work accident after a four day physical battle in ICU trauma in August 2011. Our children at the time were ages 16, 14, and 11. In June 2013, just 22 months later after the death of my husband then my 18 year old son was killed instantly in a car accident. These two deaths in our immediate family left the girls and I with much loss and heartache to walk through.
I know that many of you are battling pain currently. Maybe you feel just like this song says, “Standing in your ruins feels a lot like the end. So used to losing you are afraid to try again.” I know people in my own life that are struggling with lots of pain…. 4 sweet young people who suffered the death of their dad due to COVID this past fall… a young widow who is raising 2 preschoolers who suffered the loss of her husband in the last year… a friend of mine who is grieving the death of his life long partner who just died after her long, hard battle with cancer… a widow who was married for over 50 years that misses her husband with all of her heart and feels lost and without purpose… a dad who had a teenage son die from COVID and diabetes last year and is walking through the one year anniversary of his death… some of you are battling the pain of isolation and loneliness after this long year… some of you are hurting from broken relationships or loss of employment or income. There are so many current pictures of pain in our world and hearts. Perhaps you feel like this song says that “right now all you see are ashes where there was a flame.”
Whatever the pain is that you are facing or walking through then I pray that the message of this song will fill your heart. I pray that you will know that “Truth is that you are not forgotten and that Grace knows your name. God’s not done with you. Even with your broken heart and your wounds and your scars- God’s not done with you. Even when you’re lost and it’s hard and you’re falling apart- God’s not done with you. It’s not over, it’s only begun. So don’t hide, don’t run. ‘Cause God’s not done with you.”
I realize that in the midst of deep pain and heartache that sometimes it is hard to believe those words. I know that in the midst of my deep pain that I also battled feeling forgotten and alone. I did not even realize how deeply I felt this until one night when I was all alone when both of the girls were at college a few hours away, that I believe that God in all of His Goodness and Love gently spoke to my heart. It was not an audible voice, but the message I heard in my spirit was so clear. The words were, “Kristi, I have not forgotten you.” Oh how I cried and cried. It was like this message was speaking to the depths of my soul. I did not realize how forgotten I felt until these words of love and comfort were spoken to my heart. I pray that if you feel this way that you will speak those same words. God has not forgotten you. He loves you and is with you even in the midst of deep pain. I pray that you will be able to turn to Him with all that is hurting you and that you will not run from Him.
The song says, “There’s a light you don’t notice Until you’re standing in the dark.” I think that statement is so true. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” Some of you are in places in your lives right now that feel so dark and filled with pain. It is my prayer that you will be able to see and feel the light of God’s love and goodness even in the midst of deep pain and uncertainty. I pray for each of you that as this song says that “there’s a strength that’s growing Inside your shattered heart.”
In the midst of pain and despair, may you find hope and healing. In the midst of loneliness and uncertainty, may you know that you are not alone. (Isaiah 41:10) In the midst of feeling lost and without purpose, may you know The Truth of God’s Word- He has plans for you to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). In the midst of feeling unloved and forgotten, may you know that nothing can separate you from God’s Love (Romans 8:38-39). In the midst of doubting your worth, may you know that God has made you wonderfully (Psalm 139).
No matter what has happened in your life, may you find peace that passes understanding in Jesus. God is not done with you. He is still writing your story. I pray that your hearts are encouraged. I pray that you will take time to listen to this song as I placed the link at the end of this blog.
As one of my favorite quotes ever says by Charles R Swindoll,
“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.”
No matter what has happened in your life… No matter how much pain you are currently in… we pray that you would know that you are deeply loved by God and that you find your hope in Jesus. May you react in knowing that you are loved and that there is hope. With each step that you take, may you sense the loving Presence of God with you. You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are loved.
We love you all and thank each of you for journeying with us. Please remember that you are able to reach out to us on our site with the email.

God’s Not Done with You
So used to losing, you’re afraid to try again
Right now all you see are ashes
Where there was a flame
The truth is that you’re not forgotten
‘Cause Grace knows your name
Even with your broken heart and your wounds and your scars
God’s not done with you
Even when you’re lost and it’s hard and you’re falling apart
God’s not done with you
It’s not over, it’s only begun
So don’t hide, don’t run
‘Cause God’s not done with
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
Until you’re standing in the dark
And there’s a strength that’s growing
Inside your shattered heart
Woah-o-o-o-o-oah
Even with your broken heart and your wounds and your scars
God’s not done with you
Even when you’re lost and it’s hard and you’re falling apart
God’s not done with you
It’s not over, it’s only begun
So don’t hide, don’t run
‘Cause God’s not done with
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
He’s not done with you
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
You-ou-ou-ou-ou
He’s gonna finish what He started
He’s got a plan, this is part of it
He’s gonna finish what He started
He’s not done
God’s not done writing your story
No, He’s not done
God’s not done with you!
God’s not done with you
Even when you’re lost and it’s hard and you’re falling apart
God’s not done with you
It’s not over, it’s only begun
So don’t hide, don’t run
‘Cause God’s not done with
You, You (You-ou-ou-ou-ou)
You, You (You-ou-ou-ou-ou)
You, You
No, He’s not done
God’s not done with you
